Virtual Stone Age Sardinian Landscape

Project

The project consists in a 3D simulation of a natural scenery where a megalithic circle is inserted.

Info

The simulation visualizes a megalithic circle of the stone age in Sardinia within a hypothetical naturalistic scenery. The megalithic circle is composed of six menhirs. For their high-resolution photorealistic visualization, the photogrammetry survey technique has been used.

For generating the natural surroundings, the autochthonous vegetation present in the preserved areas of the Island has been considered. Though the primary forest no longer exists, its typical species can still be found and serve as a basis for the natural scenery creation.

The project has been implemented as a test for checking the extent of effectiveness achievable in the simulation of high-complexity natural sceneries. Good results have been obtained, particularly in representing nocturnal scenes.
