IMAGINATION IS THE LIMIT...

ABOUT US

Established in 2005, SJM TECH is focused on web design, innovation, and 3D applications. Our mission is to experiment new visual communication formats and tools, making them available on smartphones, tablets, PC/Mac and any other media, as stand-alone or web applications. Already selected by Bentley for The Extraordinary Infrastructure Projects of 2012 Be Inspired Awards, category “Innovation in mining and metals”.

Our solutions are optimized for interactive experiences by the means of touch and vision and augmented reality, particularly suitable for: museums, exhibitions, company presentations and so on. We work in the fields of cultural heritage, industrial, medical, architectural, engineering, construction, multimedia and entertainment.

Some of our international customers are: Microsoft, University of Bern, Mediaplanet.
We are involved in several partnership projects with: University of Cagliari (Faculties of Engineering, Architecture, Archaeology), University of Bern (Medical Science Faculty), CRS4 Research Center (I-CT Information Society).

Vision

SJM Tech strives to become a benchmark for 3D display technologies on the international stage. We envision to offer more and more intelligent solutions for the development of customers’ businesses. Imagination is the limit.

Mission

SJM Tech mission is to experiment new visual communication formats and tools for established fields like cultural heritage, engineering, architectural, industrial processes, entertainment and medical. Our know-how allows to manage a great amount of technical data with great flexibility in order to generate contents and multiplatform applications catering to any client need.

OUR HISTORY

FOUNDATION

SJM Tech has been incorporated in 2005 thanks to a 20,000 euros grant by the Sardinia Regional Government. Initial work came as 3D applications for civil engineering projects in addition to web sites and contents for web marketing.
2007

VIRTUAL HERITAGE

Year 2007 sees the beginning of work in the cultural heritage sector, with the participation to Arca del Tempo Museum project, the 3D reconstructions of several landmarks in and around the city of Cagliari, such as “Nuraghi”, temples, towers, fortifications. Furthermore, SJM Tech realizes one of the first 3D interactive and navigable reconstruction of Cagliari’s historic districts (Castello). This formed the basis for a greater work, the complete historic reconstruction of the city in 3 different centuries.
In the same year the Municipality of Olbia appointed SJM Tech to survey and to reconstruct 120 hectares of old town streets. The work had a high degree of accuracy and technical content, as it was aimed for usage by the city planning officials as a base for their duties.
2009 - 2010

ROMANESQUE CHURCHES

Between 2009 and 2010 the company purchased the actual office space and continued to work on multimedia, entertainment, cultural heritage, and technology sectors. Amongst its main projects: 3D reconstruction of 45 Romanesque Churches located in Sardinia, Corsica and Tuscany; 3D animation of Gesturi’s plateau geomorphology formation for the local museum (Museo della Giara di Gesturi).
2012

MINING PROJECTS

The following years saw an increase in 3D reconstruction for industrial projects: Reneweable Energy – Photovoltaic power plant interactive simulation (ENAS). Oil&Gas – Jack-up drilling rig. Mining – Three different mining complexes, one (Porto Flavia) selected by Bentley for The Extraordinary Infrastructure Projects of 2012 Be Inspired Awards, category “Innovation in mining and metals”.

In the same period starts a collaboration with Berna University (Switzerland) to create a “serious game” for cognitive rehabilitation of Alzheimer and stroke patients.

2012 - 2015

MOBILE APPLICATIONS

The research and development process led to applications for smartphones, tablets and the use of virtual reality, amongst other things.
With the contribution of partners and advisors, SJM Tech has made a great effort to expand and improve the technical quality of the products, targeting more sophisticated and complex markets. In particular engineering projects like civil constructions, mining, oil and gas.
Best examples are the high detail CAD reconstruction of Sardinia Radio Telescope and a Land Rig Drilling Site, both usable for HSE scenarios, personnel training, or for general public divulgation. These projects are testimony of SJM Tech’s drive to approach global markets with their associated new challenges.
2016

VIRTUAL REALITY

The latest high profile work is the 3D reconstruction of “Sa Mandra Manna” megalithic wall, located in Tula (Sardinia), which has received a lot of attention during the London “Museum+Heritage show 2016” where SJM Tech was the only Italian exhibitor.
