The 3D App project is conceived for tablet and smartphone visualization of museum contents (archaeological finds, works of art, objects of various kinds), monuments, archaeological or other culture-relevant sites. The aim is that of spreading cultural heritage through the new technologies.
Thanks to the interactive manipulation of the reconstructed monument, site or object on his/her own tablet or smartphone, the user can easily learn about it in details and better appreciate its cultural importance.
The app is designed in such a way that for an archaeological site the user can enjoy, besides a total view from the top, also views from different angles and heights, which allows him/her to explore the site to the last detail while interacting with textual or audio information. This is particularly useful when visiting large or partially inaccessible archaeological areas, as well as highly degraded sites.
For museum pieces, interactive manipulation of high resolution images of sculptures or other objects from any possible view angle is a quite effective way for their full appreciation.
Through the relocation of the objects outside the constraints of their physical environment in a virtual context easily accessible to the public (especially young people), this innovative communication tool makes the cultural heritage within everyone’s reach.
